Congresswomen Shouldn't Get Paid While Other Federal Workers Are Furloughed

Concord - New Hampshire Republican State Committee Chairman Jennifer Horn released the following statement today calling on Representatives Carol Shea-Porter and Annie Kuster to decline their paychecks or donate them to charity during the government shutdown. Senators Kelly Ayotte and Jeanne Shaheen have both announced that they will donate their salaries to charity.

"Our country is facing a government shutdown because Washington politicians like Carol Shea-Porter and Annie Kuster refused to set aside partisan bickering and work across the aisle to solve problems. Representatives Carol Shea-Porter and Annie Kuster don't deserve to collect their salaries while hundreds of thousands of federal workers are furloughed without pay because of their failed leadership.

"Representatives Kuster and Shea-Porter have let down New Hampshire and they must pledge to decline their paychecks or donate them to charity for the duration of this shutdown."
