Concord – During a radio interview on WKBK-AM this morning, Senator Jeanne Shaheen offered no solutions to a constituent struggling with higher health care costs and demonstrated how out-of-touch she is with the people of New Hampshire.

After a listener told her that his deductible has tripled and his monthly premium has doubled under ObamaCare, a noticeably agitated Shaheen suggested that the constituent “call her office.” Even the host of the station pointed out the absurdity of that argument, saying "that's going to be more than a few people calling your office."

“When she cast the deciding vote for ObamaCare, Jeanne Shaheen put the interests of her national party over those of her constituents, and now people in New Hampshire are hurting because of it,” said NHGOP Chairman Jennifer Horn. “Now Shaheen’s only response is to have people ‘call her office.’ The job of a United States Senator is to stand up for the people you represent, and when she voted for ObamaCare, Jeanne Shaheen failed that test. Fortunately, the people of New Hampshire have an opportunity to elect new leadership this fall and replace her with a senator will fight for them instead of rubberstamping the failed Obama agenda.”

Concord - National Journal reports that a new study released today shows that ObamaCare's Medicare Advantage cuts will lead to benefit reductions of 12.53% per beneficiary in New Hampshire, or about $1,267.82 per New Hampshire senior. In New Hampshire, 13,666 seniors rely on Medicare Advantage plans (6% of all Medicare enrollees.)

For years, Senator Jeanne Shaheen, Representative Annie Kuster and Representative Carol Shea-Porter have dishonestly misled New Hampshire seniors into believing that ObamaCare would protect Medicare. In 2010, Shaheen voted to kill an amendment that would have prohibited cuts to Medicare Advantage.

"Senator Shaheen, Representatives Kuster and Shea-Porter lied when they said Granite Staters could keep their insurance if they liked it under ObamaCare and they lied to New Hampshire seniors when they promised that this terrible law would protect Medicare. Their trail of broken promises reminds their constituents that the failed Obama-Shaheen policies are damaging our state and hurting our friends and neighbors," said NHGOP Chairman Jennifer Horn. "After marching in lockstep with President Obama and blindly supporting his healthcare agenda, Senator Shaheen, Representative Kuster and Representative Shea-Porter have lost touch with New Hampshire values and proven that they don't deserve to be re-elected in November."

Shaheen Said ObamaCare "Protects Medicare Benefits." "Through increased efficiency, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act extends the life of Medicare, removes waste and fraud, lowers costs for seniors, and protects Medicare benefits." (Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, "Shaheen Applauds Passage Of Preventative Health Care, Medicare Protection Measures," Press Release, 12/3/09)

In March 2010, Shaheen Voted To Kill An Amendment That Would Have Prohibited Cuts To Medicare Advantage Under ObamaCare. "Baucus, D-Mont., motion to table (kill) the Hatch, R-Utah., motion to commit the bill to the Finance Committee with instructions that it be reported back with changes that would prohibit cuts to the Medicare Advantage program and provide for an offset if the Health and Human Services Department certified that at least 1 million Medicare Advantage program participants would lose benefits under the changes in the reconciliation measure or the 2010 health care overhaul law. The bill would make changes existing health care law, revise student lending procedures and provide new revenue-raising provisions." (H.R. 4872, CQ Vote #72: Motion agreed to 56-42: R 0-40; D 54-2; I 2-0, 3/24/10, Shaheen Voted Yea)

Concord - As thousands of families across New Hampshire head to the post office today to meet the tax filing deadline, the New Hampshire Republican State Committee today launched a new web video called "The Shaheen Tax Burden." The video highlight Senator Shaheen's broken promises about protecting New Hampshire from a broad based sales tax and her record of supporting President Obama's tax increases.

"As families across New Hampshire race to meet today's tax filing deadline, they have Jeanne Shaheen to thank for their ever-rising tax burden. When she was governor, she broke her word and attempted to impose a disastrous sales tax on the Granite State. In Washington, she has loyally supported the Obama tax and spend agenda 99 percent of the time, including a 500 billion dollar tax hike under the Obama-Shaheen health care takeover," said NHGOP Executive Director Matt Mowers, "Jeanne Shaheen believes politicians and government know how to best spend hard-earned money - a philosophy that flies in the face of New Hampshire's fiscally conservative traditions. With out of touch priorities like these, it's no wonder her popularity is plummeting and her political future is in jeopardy."

Concord - New Hampshire Republican State Committee Chairman Jennifer Horn released the following statement on Senator Jeanne Shaheen's attempt to distract from her support for a sales tax. Shaheen announced today that she will talk about a sales tax tomorrow:

"As a candidate for governor, Jeanne Shaheen lied to New Hampshire when she pledged to oppose a broad based tax. After taking office, Shaheen broke her word and tried to destroy the New Hampshire Advantage by attempting to impose a disastrous sales tax that would have crushed small businesses.

"Shaheen's dishonest attempt to distract from enthusiastic support for a sales tax is another sign of her increasingly desperate campaign. Granite Staters are smart enough to see through her shameless political tactics and recognize that she is a tax and spend liberal who has voted for President Obama's failed policies 99 percent of the time."
Concord - New Hampshire Republican State Committee Chairman Jennifer Horn released the following statement today on internal Shaheen Campaign talking points obtained by WMUR-TV:

"It is clear that Senator Shaheen is planning to run a negative, nasty campaign that focuses on personal attacks instead of discussing issues that are important to New Hampshire. Shaheen knows that Granite Staters are fed up with her record of voting with President Obama 99 percent of the time and she is desperate to distract from her deciding vote for ObamaCare. Fortunately, New Hampshire voters are smart enough to see through the Shaheen Campaign's vapid talking points and realize that it is time to replace her with a fiscally responsible Republican who will provide independent leadership for our state."
Concord - New Hampshire Republican Committee State Chairman Jennifer Horn today announced that U.S. Senator Ted Cruz will join the NHGOP for two Day of Action rallies in Nashua and Manchester on Saturday, April 12, 2014.

"Two of the most important ways we will win are by standing for principle and standing up to Make DC Listen. That's what the grassroots in New Hampshire are doing on Saturday -- and it's a critical part of the effort to turn this country around," said Senator Cruz.

"We are pleased to have Senator Cruz join us for a Day of Action in New Hampshire.  His enthusiasm for liberty will energize local New Hampshire grassroots activists during this important election year," said NHGOP Chairman Jennifer Horn. "Sending Republicans to Concord and Washington is the only way we will begin to undo the damage done to our country by Democrats like Barack Obama and Jeanne Shaheen, who has voted with the president 99 percent of the time and is responsible for imposing ObamaCare on New Hampshire families."

The free New Hampshire Day of Action will have Republican activists across the state learning and using new technology to reach out to voters in their communities.  These rallies kick off voter outreach efforts that will take place throughout the day in every county in New Hampshire.
