NHGOP Statement on Supreme Court Blocking Lynch's Attempted Theft of JUA Funds

CONCORD – Former New Hampshire Governor and Republican State Committee Chairman John H. Sununu released the following statement on the Supreme Court’s decision to block Governor Lynch’s attempted theft of $110 million from the JUA fund:

“It’s not surprising that the Supreme Court did the right thing and blocked Governor Lynch’s attempted theft of the JUA surplus funds. The court’s decision confirms that the Democrats’ reckless, irresponsible budget is an absolute disaster for the State of New Hampshire.

“Republicans in the House and Senate constantly warned Governor Lynch that this attempted raid was not only unethical, but completely illegal. Despite these repeated warnings, the Governor put New Hampshire’s fiscal integrity at risk by refusing to develop a ‘Plan B’ and support the spending cuts required to address this crisis. The Governor thought he could simply ignore this problem and continue the reckless growth of government in New Hampshire.

“Because of Governor Lynch’s failed fiscal stewardship, New Hampshire now finds itself with a massive budget shortfall and a severely depleted rainy day fund. The Supreme Court’s decision today reminds voters that this Governor is unable to address New Hampshire’s budget challenges and incapable of leading our state through these challenging economic times.”
